What is the difference between the joker and the riddler

Though each villain has shown a burning desire to prove the depth of their wit, Joker makes it clear in The Joker Presents: A Puzzlebox 5 that they do not share modus operandi. He is not restricted by the bounds of gamesmanship and can do whatever he finds funny at the time. Riddler is a fictional character, who is the enemy of Batman in the Batman series published by DC comics. This character first appeared in detective comics.

Riddler is the antagonist just like the Joker in the Batman series. Character of riddler is created by Bill Finger and Dick sprang. This character is known for purple domino mask costume, either as a skintight catsuit or a business suit and bowler hat.

Riddler is obsessed with puzzles, word games, and riddles. He delights in forewarning police and Batman of his capers by sending them complex clues.

Just like other antagonists in the Batman series, Riddler was also once portrayed as a playful but saner criminal trickster, but turned to be a victim of an intense obsessive compulsion.

He has an over-compulsive disorder, and his fetish is to be baffled by his enemies or pawns. His kills are always planned. He is described as a narcissist with a big ego. Even with his character, he fears death. In complete contrast, the Joker is a psychopathic killer. This villain uses any form of violence and has the compulsion to kill without mercy.

He also has no fear. His fetish is sadomasochism, and his actions are often directed at Batman. He has a couple of henchmen in his criminal activities. Another distinction between the two is that the Joker is both capable of physical and mental pain while the Riddler often participates in the cerebral type of matches. The Riddler uses wit and intelligence while the Joker uses an assortment of weapons like a flower lapel that sprays substances, a gun, a high-voltage hand buzzer, and his trademark Joker venom.

His crimes are often of a vengeful sort since his current state was a result of fleeing from Batman. Both characters have their own appeal and unique characteristics. Joker finds himself unable to laugh, while Riddler who claims to be able to "solve anything" admits he is incapable of "solving" Batman.

Riddler explains his predicament to the Clown Prince. He also observes that jokes need to be unpredictable, and so concludes that the predictable pattern of conflicts with Batman has ruined any punchline the Joker might enjoy. Both need to kill the Dark Knight to recover, but neither one will allow the other to do it. Riddler proposes that teaming up is the only solution. Joker agrees, then shoots Riddler in the gut and leaves him for dead.

Riddler miraculously survives. A second attempt on his life is carried out by mafia hitmen serving Carmine Falcone's soldiers, who has been threatened into cooperating. But by that point, Poison Ivy and Riddler are discussing how to prevent Joker from destroying Gotham's plants with his usual scorched earth practices. She kills the mafiosos and becomes Riddler's first recruit. The two groups tear Gotham apart with bullets and bombs, trying to murder one another, and more importantly to kill Batman.

Hundreds die in the crossfire.
